Colorado RV Parks: Scenery
Colorado RV Parks are located in some of the most picturesque places on the earth. Nestled in beautiful mountain ranges, or even along some riverside location in a vast valley, Colorado RV parks are an outdoor paradise surrounded by an abundance of flora and fauna. No matter what one's interests are, the breathtaking scenery is one to be experienced and remembered for a long time.
Colorado RV Parks: Spring Activities
Springtime in Colorado is a time of transition. Some Colorado RV parks are not open due to location and because they are still covered in a blanket of snow. With openings beginning typically between April and June, one needs to call ahead to find season dates, which will usually be in large part dependent upon location and elevation. Colorado RV parks prefer to stay open year-round, but many factors just don't make that economically feasible.
Of the Colorado RV parks that are open during this time, location determines activities. Many are located next to mountain streams exploding with hungry trout. It is also the time of the year where many game animals are low in the valleys and are making their way up to higher elevations as the snowpack melts. This is a great time for photography and videography of Colorado's flora and fauna. Mountain lion hunting is winding down this time of the year as well as most snowtime activities.
Colorado RV Parks: Summer Activities
Summer is when Colorado is popping with activity. Days are much longer and the heat from lower elevation states makes the cool weather of the Colorado high country a sought after respite; and Colorado RV parks are right in the midst of it all. Although not a complete list, here's some of the most popular things to do this time of the year: fishing, hiking, backpacking, ATVing, 4-wheelin, camping, mountain climbing, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, and horseback riding. Bow hunting season begins at the very end of summer.
Colorado RV Parks: Fall Activities
Hunting season is the most predominent activity this time of the year. Many Colorado RV parks are right in the middle of prime hunting country all over the state. The last week of bow season is during the fall as well as all of the big game rifle seasons and small game seasons. This is also a transitional time when the weather starts to cool down and is sometimes unpredictable. Some of summer's activities can also be done during this time, but it's dependent upon the weather.
One of the most popular activities among locals is the changing of the colors. As the temperature changes, nature starts to give way in the higher elevations as colors begin to change from green to a kaleidoscope of yellows, browns and reds. The highest elevations succumb first and the train of color changes marches its way down the mountain sides to the valleys below. It is quite a spectacle to watch.
Colorado RV Parks: Winter Activities
Did we mention snow and lots of it? Well, this is snow country and there's lots to do when the ground is covered in white powder. Snow means lots of fun activities such as skiing, snow boarding, snow sledding/mobiling (depending on where you're from), cross country skiing, snow shoeing, sled dog rides, sleigh rides, and even backcountry/hut skiing. On the other hand, believe it or not, there are also some places in Colorado that get less than 10 inches of precipitation a year. In these areas you'll probably find some Colorado RV Parks still with the light on for ya! Plus, many are located close to wintertime activities.
Don't forget about ice fishing. Who said you can't walk on water? There are some lakes where people drive their vehicles, er, um, on the lake. Of course, we don't recommend that for the faint of heart. Winter is also when Colorado outfitters get the hound dogs geared up for mountain lion hunting.
